“Occhio” Eye Stool: homage to Piero Fornasetti

Eye Stool: Re-Creation

Inspired by the artist/designer Piero Fornasetti and the furniture, which he created in collaboration with architect Gio Ponti, I decided to recreate his piece entitled “Occhio” Eye Stool.

I have been inspired by  the way that he transformed everyday objects into works of art. He applied graphics from books, playing cards, harlequins, fish, clocks, faces and hands to his furniture.

Piero Fornasetti was a Milanese painter, sculptor, interior decorator, engraver of books and a creator of more than 11,000 products. In terms of variety of decoration, Fornasetti’s production of objects and furniture is one of the largest of the 20th century.

Here is an example of the original ‘Eye Stool’ by Fornasetti, along with some other creations I like by Fornasetti himself or  The Fornasetti Atelier which is now managed by his son Barnaba.

  1. Oh how I love Fornasetti. I couldn’t begin to explain why, I just do.
