Earlier last month I took part a really nice project by the women of Open Circle Community Collective in Kilkenny. The project was titled ‘Social Fabric: Portraits of Kilkenny Women’ and was created in order to celebrate ‘International Women’s Day 2014’.
Textile artist Deirdre Harte lead this project, which involved embroidering a collection of portraits.
Workshops were held and we were given the material and shown how to create our very own embroidered self portrait.
I had never done any embroidery before but it turned out pretty well in the end.
I loved seeing how everyone had their own unique style of embroidery.
